Automatic food waste system reduces costs and improves efficiency in universities.
The study looked at how much food waste a university canteen produces and how well an automatic waste collection system handles it. They found that the automatic system is 30% more efficient than manual collection, using less water but more energy. Despite the higher energy use, the automatic system costs less in the long run and pays for itself in less than 2 years. This means that small and medium-sized catering facilities could benefit from using automatic food waste collection systems to improve efficiency.
