The article looks at how exporting affects productivity and competitiveness in Indian manufacturing. They studied data from 1994 to 2017 and found that exporting helps firms learn and become more competitive. However, they didn't find evidence that only the best firms export. Exporting also boosts competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. The results suggest that focusing on improving firms' ability to export could make Indian manufacturing more competitive.
