Accurate hourly air temperature predictions in mountainous areas are crucial for various applications. Scientists developed a method using statistical models to improve air temperature forecasts over complex terrains. By downscaling larger-scale models to a finer resolution, they reduced errors in predicting air temperature by almost 1°C at weather stations and over the study area. The new approach successfully corrected and improved the accuracy of air temperature forecasts in the study region.
