South Asian countries need to boost PPP investment for economic growth
Public-private partnerships (PPPs) in South Asian countries can boost economic growth by attracting private investment in public projects. A study analyzed data from 1990 to 2017 and found that PPP investments can have positive returns for the public sector, but negative returns for private investors. However, PPP investments can also lead to increased private investment by providing essential infrastructure. Overall, promoting PPP investments in South Asia can benefit the economy by crowding-in both private and public investments.
