Decentralized decision-making key to successful forest restoration in Nepal.
Forest restoration in Nepal has been happening for 65 years, but early efforts didn't consider social and ecological factors enough. Later on, improvements were made by involving local communities, recognizing the importance of forests for multiple purposes, and using various restoration methods. This study looked at past restoration efforts and found that including socio-economic and ecological factors is crucial for successful forest restoration. The findings can help policymakers and practitioners worldwide improve their restoration projects.
