The article presents a system of different types of stories called "narrative genres". These genres are used to study how stories are created using computer methods. The system includes five categories: stories as specific works, stories as broader works, stories as social and emerging phenomena, stories that affect real life, and stories as human psychological and physiological phenomena. The authors focus on Japanese stories but also include universal elements. The goal is to understand the different types of stories and how they are used in different contexts.
