Physician Immediacy Boosts Patient Liking and Motivation for Better Health.
The study looked at how a doctor's friendliness and communication style affect how patients feel about them and how motivated they are to follow their advice. They had an actor play a doctor in a video diagnosing health issues. The results showed that when the doctor was more friendly and engaging, patients liked them more and were more motivated to listen to their advice. However, the doctor's friendliness did not affect how well patients remembered the information. So, doctors should try to be warm and engaging to make patients feel comfortable and motivated to improve their health.
