Russian authoritarians share Western traits but differ in economic views.
The article explores authoritarian attitudes in Russia by studying right-wing authoritarianism and social dominance orientation. The researchers conducted six studies involving over 1,300 participants to examine personality traits, values, beliefs, and attitudes towards different groups. They found that Russian authoritarians share similar personality traits and responses to threats as Western authoritarians. However, their views on economic conservatism differ due to influences from Soviet ideology. This research sheds light on the psychology of authoritarianism and uncovers unique aspects of Russian culture.
