Chilean students redefine excellence: focus on effort and social commitment.
The article explores how students in top public schools in Chile view excellence. They surveyed 1,828 students in 11th and 12th grade and found that students see excellence as a mix of effort, self-improvement, social commitment, and thoughtfulness. Students' ideas of excellence are influenced by their expectations for the future and their perceptions of their schools. This study sheds light on students' perspectives on excellence and suggests that academic achievements are not the only measure of excellence.
