Personality and culture shape conformity levels across the globe.
People's personalities can be influenced by the culture they live in. A study looked at how different personality traits and cultural norms affect how much people conform to their country's personality profile. They found that being more outgoing, agreeable, and organized, and living in a strict culture, leads to more conformity. On the other hand, being more open-minded and anxious, and living in a relaxed culture, leads to less conformity. The study also showed that being open-minded and outgoing can interact with cultural norms to predict how much people conform to their country's personality norms.
