Optimal sowing dates and rates boost winter triticale yields and quality.
The researchers studied the best times to plant and how many seeds to use for winter triticale. They found that planting in late August or early September with 3.0-4.0 million seeds per hectare gave the highest grain yields. Late planting in mid-September led to lower productivity. Using more seeds didn't increase yields. Some varieties like Kastus, Fidelio, and Valentin 90 were the most productive in dry areas and are recommended for farming.
