Water diversion boosts water quality in Saskatchewan's Buffalo Pound Lake.
Water quality models were used to study how different water flow scenarios affect Buffalo Pound Lake in Saskatchewan. The study looked at three scenarios of water diversion and found that transferring water can improve some water quality parameters, especially when done during low local runoff. The timing and amount of water transferred play a key role in improving water quality in the lake. The results suggest that transferring water during periods of minimal local runoff can help maintain good water quality in the reservoir.
