STEM students lack sustainability literacy, highlighting need for improved sustainability education in higher ed.
The study looked at how well Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students in a US university understand sustainability concepts. The students were tested on sustainability knowledge, and the results showed they knew about sustainability ideas but struggled with applying them in real life. This suggests that while students are familiar with sustainability principles, they face challenges when it comes to putting these ideas into practice in their daily lives. This study highlights a gap in how sustainability education is taught to STEM students at universities.
