Vaccines in Argentina Cut COVID Deaths by Half in Elderly.
A study in Argentina looked at how well three COVID-19 vaccines worked in people over 60. They found that after two doses, all three vaccines were highly effective at reducing the risk of getting infected with the virus. The vaccines also significantly lowered the risk of dying from COVID-19. The rAd26-rAd5 vaccine had an adjusted odds ratio of 0.36, ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 had 0.32, and BBIBP-CorV had 0.56 for reducing infection risk. For preventing death, the adjusted hazard ratio was 0.19 for rAd26-rAd5, 0.20 for ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, and 0.27 for BBIBP-CorV.
