New soil irrigation model boosts crop yield and water conservation efforts!
The study modeled how water spreads in different types of soil when a drip system is used. They found that the rate of water flow from the emitter decreases over time and is affected by factors like soil type and depth of the emitter. Sandy loam soil allows water to spread further than silty clay loam soil. The interface between different soil layers also helps water move horizontally and vertically.
