New rice genotypes boost yields and nutrient uptake in acidic soils!
A study was done to test different types of rice to see which ones can grow well in soil that is too acidic. They looked at how much rice each type could produce and how well they could use nutrients like phosphorus and potassium. They found that adding lime to the soil helped all types of rice grow better. Some types of rice did better with lime than others. The rice called JKRH3333 and BINADHAN-75 responded the most to lime, while BINADHAN-8 and PUP-223 took up the most phosphorus and potassium from the soil. Overall, adding lime to the soil helped increase rice yield and nutrient uptake.
