The article explores how independent coffee shops in South China can create high customer value. By analyzing 93 customer cases, the researchers found that employee behaviors towards customers are crucial for creating value. They also discovered that customers' behaviors and certain personality traits like agreeableness and openness are important factors. Overall, the study shows that a combination of customer characteristics, value co-creation behaviors, and employee citizenship behaviors can lead to high episode and relationship values in independent shops.
