The article tackles the difference between profitable green energy and truly sustainable energy sources. It looks at how most studies only focus on the economic and environmental aspects of energy production, ignoring a broader view of sustainability. The authors propose a new approach that considers environmental, economic, social, and technical factors, alongside regional resources, to measure electricity generation sustainability accurately. By using the Relative Aggregate Footprint method and taking regional differences into account, they aim to create better guidelines for developing a balanced and truly sustainable energy mix.
