Desalination technology could quench the thirst of millions facing water scarcity.
Desalination methods are increasingly important in solving water shortages caused by population growth in dry regions like Iraq. Desalination technology can turn salty water into freshwater, helping areas with a lack of clean water. However, despite its benefits, only a small percentage of people worldwide use desalinated water currently. By 2025, more than one in ten people globally could face water scarcity issues. In Iraq, water quality has declined, leading to higher salt levels. Desalination has the potential to alleviate this problem and improve water availability in salt-affected areas.
