Groundwater has more diverse and abundant microbial communities than surface water, regardless of the season. Human pathogens are found in both types of water. The bacterial communities in groundwater are more structured and predictable compared to surface water. Environmental factors play a significant role in shaping these microbial communities. This study helps us understand how to better protect our water resources.
