New method revolutionizes landscape planning for sustainable urban development.
The article discusses a new method called landscape thresholds analysis (LTA) that helps planners consider complex landscape conditions when making decisions. The goal is to protect landscape heritage and follow sustainable development rules while urban areas change. The LTA method categorizes different aspects of the landscape (natural, cultural, and sensory) to show areas with specific restrictions. By using this method in a case study in Warsaw, Poland, researchers were able to interpret the landscape and identify different types of areas within it. The LTA method provides a useful toolbox for landscape and spatial planning.
