Climate Change Beliefs in Africa Shaped by Ideology, Gender, and Language
In Africa, people's beliefs about climate change were studied. The researchers looked at what influences these beliefs using survey and climate information from different regions. They found that climate change beliefs in Africa are mostly about how it affects farming. People who experience changes in local weather tend to believe in climate change more. Also, those with authoritarian or intolerant beliefs are less aware of climate change and its risks. Women are less aware of climate change, and not speaking certain languages can make it harder to understand climate beliefs in Africa. This helps policymakers plan better ways to deal with climate change impacts in Africa by considering people's beliefs and actual climate data together.
