Scientists used a computer program that learns from examples to understand what users want and change it into a computer-friendly form. They did this by changing normal words into database words, finding similar words and figuring out what part of speech each word is. The program also used a special formula to see how alike words are. By using this method, they were able to convert sentences into computer language, helping users get the information they need from a database.
