The article discusses how politeness in speaking English is influenced by culture, gender, language style, and domain. The researchers used qualitative research to study eight theories of politeness, the concept of face in politeness, and different types of politeness. They found that learners often struggle to use English based on sociolinguistic features, leading to issues in practicing politeness in English as a second language.
