Unsustainable land practices in Niger State driving food insecurity and conflict.
Land users in Niger State, Nigeria, perceive land degradation as a major issue affecting agriculture and food security. The study used satellite data and surveys to understand how people view land degradation and sustainable land management. They found that degradation is caused by human activities and migration from neighboring areas. To address this, improving land tenure, creating alternative livelihoods, and promoting sustainable practices like tree planting are crucial.
