The study measured how much water maize crops need in a specific region of India. They used special equipment to calculate the water requirement and crop coefficient of maize. The water needed for maize was found to be 410.4 mm. The amount of water maize plants lose through evaporation and transpiration varied throughout the growing season. The crop coefficient values for different stages of maize growth were determined. The researchers also compared their results with other methods of calculating water loss from plants.
