High stocking density impacts sheep grazing behavior, changing herd dynamics.
The study looked at how the number of sheep in a field affects how they eat grass. Usually, it's hard to tell if sheep eat differently because of how many there are or how much grass there is. This study found a way to separate these factors. They discovered that when there are more sheep in a field, they eat less grass each. This means that stocking density, or how many sheep are in a field, can change how much grass each sheep eats.
