Turning waste into bricks cuts energy use and greenhouse gases
Researchers found a way to make bricks using red mud waste and low grade bauxite, which are usually discarded materials. By using experimental methods, they optimized the brick-making process and found that using red mud reduces the quality of bricks but makes the process more energy-efficient. They also developed a mathematical model to predict the strength of the bricks. Testing confirmed that using red mud in brick manufacturing can reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional methods.
