Female networks drive demand for new agricultural technology in India
Women in eastern Uttar Pradesh, India play a crucial role in agricultural decisions. A study looked at how women learn about a new technology called laser land leveling through their social networks. The research found that women who are poorer and less educated have more agricultural information contacts. If a woman has a friend who adopted the new technology, her husband was more likely to bid higher for it. This shows that both male and female social networks have a significant impact on household decisions about new agricultural technologies.
