Water, Salt, and Sunshade Boost Fat-Lamb Weight Gain and Quality
The researchers studied how water, salt, and sunshade in pastures affect the weight and meat quality of lambs. They grazed Finnish Landrace × Suffolk lambs on two types of pastures: one with water, salt, and sunshade, and one without. Lambs on the pasture with amenities gained more weight and were heavier than those on the other pasture. The weather had a big impact on the weight changes of lambs on the pasture without amenities. Both pastures were found to be suitable for producing fat lambs, with no difference in meat quality.
