Biofuel production could drastically reduce carbon emissions, new calculator reveals.
A tool called CCLUB helps calculate how much carbon is released when growing biofuel crops by changing land use. It looks at producing ethanol from corn or plant leftovers like corn stover, Miscanthus, and switchgrass. The tool released in 2014 gives estimates for different ways of making ethanol. This helps understand the environmental impact of using land for biofuels.
