Collective Bargaining Decline Threatens Slovenian Workers' Rights and Protections
Collective bargaining in Slovenia has a long history and is an important way for employees and employers to regulate their relationships. The country's Constitution recognizes the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. Collective agreements cover many aspects of employment and generally provide employees with more rights than the law. However, the future of collective bargaining in Slovenia is at risk due to declining trade union and employer organization rates, exceptions to employee rights, and changes in types of work contracts.
