The Asian monsoon anticyclone's movement was studied using reanalysis data. The air inside the anticyclone moves east to west every one to two weeks, controlled by passive advection. Geopotential anomalies move westward, causing low-PV air to shed eastward. This movement explains the bimodal distribution of geopotential maximum location.
