Edge computing brings data processing closer to devices like sensors and IoT objects. It can be set up at a customer's place or near the network edge. The chapter covers the basics, architecture, and implementation of edge computing. It introduces a method for devices to connect to an IoT platform quickly and securely. Real-world applications of edge computing are also discussed. Future research could explore fog and osmotic computing to enhance edge computing further.
