The article presents a method to combine existing databases and create new ones for different applications. They use a mix of bottom-up and top-down approaches: integrating current databases with standard techniques and developing new database schemas for new applications. By comparing the old and new schemas, they can update the existing databases to support the new applications. This allows for a flexible and evolving way to adapt databases to changing needs. A case study is included to show how the method works in practice.
