Renewable energy systems are preferred by people in Bangladesh over grid-connected electricity. The main factor influencing this choice is the cost of energy. Even when offered grid-connected electricity at a lower price, people still prefer renewable energy systems. To encourage more use of renewables, mechanisms like net-metering, feed-in tariffs, tax cuts, and subsidies for renewable energy projects could be helpful.
