Central American Integration System aims to transform region into peaceful powerhouse
The Central American Integration System (SICA) was created to promote unity and cooperation among Central American countries after a period of conflict. Its main goal is to bring peace, democracy, and development to the region. SICA members include Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. A treaty signed in 1995 aims to enhance security in the region by combating drug and arms trafficking and assisting refugees and displaced people.
