Restoring degraded alpine meadows with strategic grazing management strategies
Alpine grasslands in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau are getting damaged, and different grazing methods are being tested to see what works best. The study looked at plots with different levels of damage and grazing treatments. They found that as the grasslands got more damaged, the amount of grass above the ground decreased, while the roots below the ground increased. By reducing grazing, the lightly damaged grasslands can recover, while the moderately and heavily damaged ones need to be left alone to bounce back. Different types of plants also responded differently to the grazing treatments. Overall, the study suggests that managing grazing can help restore damaged grasslands in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.
