Farmers in Nepal revolutionize livestock feeding with diverse tree fodder options.
Farmers in Nepal are relying more on growing tree fodder due to decreasing forest resources. A study found that farmers use various criteria to compare the quality of 90 fodder species, including how well they satisfy animals' appetite, affect milk and ghee production, improve animal growth, and impact animal health. Factors like leaf texture, maturity, bitterness, toxicity, season, and management practices also influence fodder quality.
