Scientists used satellite data to study ozone levels in deep convective clouds. They found that ozone in clouds is influenced by chemical reactions and transport processes. Ozone concentrations were low in the tropical Pacific but high over landmass regions like South America and southern Africa. The study also showed a link between pollution near the ground and elevated ozone levels inside thick clouds over certain regions.
