Network structure analysis is crucial for understanding complex systems. A new measure called topological centrality has been introduced to assess the importance of nodes and edges in a network. Compared to other centrality measures like degree, closeness, and betweenness centrality, topological centrality shows unique features. It has been successfully used to identify communities and create a backbone network in various applications related to e-Science.
