Rabbit fetuses show low chimerism levels after gonadal cell microinjection.
Researchers investigated the potential of rabbit fetal germ cells to create chimeric embryos. They isolated gonial cells from male and female transgenic fetal rabbit gonads and injected them into nontransgenic rabbit embryos. The injections were done with primary isolations of gonial cells within 48 hours of collection. The study found low levels of chimerism in rabbit fetuses produced from these microinjected embryos.
