The University of Florida's Civil Engineering Department worked with the Florida Department of Transportation to improve production rates for construction projects. They gathered data from other state DOTs, surveyed FDOT projects, and talked to contractors. The study recommended updated production rates for setting contract durations and suggested a new method for calculating total work time based on construction logic. A sample form for estimating contract duration was also provided.
