European hake in the central Adriatic Sea grow at different rates during their first year of life, reaching 15 cm in length. They spawn continuously, with peaks in summer and early spring. Young hake transition from floating in the water to living near the sea floor at around 40 days old. This change happens close to where many young hake gather in the Central Adriatic Sea.
