Groundwater extraction threatens wetlands near F and H Areas of SRS.
In 1999, scientists monitored water levels in wetlands near F and H Areas to see how a water treatment system might affect them. They used special tools called piezometers to measure water levels in the ground. The goal was to see if the treatment system would lower the water table and dry out the wetlands. The researchers wanted to know what the water levels were before and after the treatment system started.
