New Electrode Material Boosts Water-Splitting Efficiency for Sustainable Energy Production!
A new type of material called hierarchical NiCo2O4 hollow microcuboids has been created to help split water into oxygen and hydrogen efficiently. These microcuboids can work as both an oxygen evolution catalyst and a hydrogen evolution catalyst. The NiCo2O4 electrode can split water with a low voltage, reaching 10 mA cm−2 at 1.65 V and 20 mA cm−2 at 1.74 V. The unique structure of the NiCo2O4 microflowers plays a key role in achieving high performance in water splitting.
