Soil tillage and crop rotations boost yields and soil health in Burkina Faso.
The study aimed to improve soil quality and crop productivity in Burkina Faso by testing different soil tillage methods and crop rotations. They found that reduced tillage and adding leguminous plants to rotations improved soil health and increased cotton and maize yields. Conventional tillage led to lower soil nutrient levels, while minimum tillage and no tillage were just as effective for crop yields. Adding mucuna to rotations boosted yields, showing promise for sustainable farming practices in the region.
