Brief visit to a neighborhood can alter social attitudes significantly.
Visiting a neighborhood can influence your social attitudes. A study compared two neighborhoods in a British city - one with high crime and one with low crime. Residents in the high-crime area had less trust and more paranoia. When volunteers visited these neighborhoods for just 45 minutes, they also showed lower trust and more paranoia based on where they went. This suggests that being in a neighborhood can quickly change how you feel and think.
