The research developed a method using Building Information Models (BIM) to accurately calculate the amount of materials needed for commercial office buildings in the early design phase. This helps designers make environmentally friendly choices by integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into the design process. The method, called iEE BIM LCA BPS, accurately calculates the Initial Embodied Energy (iEE) of building materials, making it easier to make decisions that reduce a building's environmental impact. Testing showed that the method accurately represents a building's total iEE consumption, making it useful for decision-making in the design process.
