Seasonal changes in marine life reveal hidden environmental impacts.
The study aimed to understand how different factors affect the abundance of marine creatures in the São Sebastião Channel. Researchers found that the environment and time of year both play a big role in the number and types of species found. They discovered that the sandy bottoms and depth of the water influence the species present, while the seasonal intrusion of cold water and biological cycles also have an impact. The study identified four main components of species variation: pure environmental, pure temporal, environmental with temporal structure, and undetermined. Overall, the findings show that the environment and time of year are important factors in shaping the marine ecosystem in this area.
